AI India Citizen: building a free digital civic platform for India
By Raj Dave9 March 2026 5 min read
AI India Citizen is a free community platform for Indian citizens — civic services, a public feed and zone-wise local engagement across the country.
AI India Citizen is the civic side of the AI-Pinny ecosystem: a free platform where citizens can join, post, follow local voices and access digital services in their own area.
Zone-wise, not just national
India's civic life is local. The platform is organised around MLA zones, so a citizen sees what is happening in their own constituency rather than a generic national feed.
What members get
Membership is free and includes:
- A citizen profile with a public handle
- A community feed for posts, reels, photos and civic news
- Access to citizen service apps
- A local directory to find and follow people in your area
Why it matters
Digital access is uneven across India. A platform built in plain language, working well on a low-cost phone, and free to join, is the starting condition for genuine participation.
